Since Februray 7th, 1991, Our Lord Jesus Christ, Most Holy Mary, Saint Joseph , the Holy Ghost, the Angels and Saints, have been appearing daily in Jacareí, São Paulo, Brazil, at 6:30PM (Brasília time).

She introduces Herself as Queen and Messenger of Peace and makes one last call to conversion, through a Young man: Marcos Tadeu, who in the beginning of the Apparitions was only 13 years old.

They are the most intense Apparitions in the history of our country, and Most Holy Mary says that they are the last Apparitions for Humanity. The Mother of God asked that would be done every day, at 8 PM, the Holy Hour of Peace, so that families convert themselves and the world has Peace.

She promised Her protection to families who do it every day. Our Lady says that Apparitions of Jacareí & of Medjugorje (ex-Yugoslavia) are continuation & CONCLUSION of Fatima.

On November 8, 1929, Sister Amalia, her heart moved by grief of a relative whose wife was critically ill, sought Jesus in the Tabernacle & pleaded that she might give her own life for this mother of little children. So sincere was desire of this Sister who bears Holy Stigmata that Our Lord spoke to her, telling her how to pray to attain this grace. Jesus said:

"Pray to me in behalf of my mother's tears, I shall gladly grant them."
"My Daughter, whatever men will ask of Me for sake of tears of my mother, I shall grant them lovingly."

Sister Amalia bent low her head as she reflected on Tears of Our Lady. "How shall I pray?" she asked humbly.

"O Jesus, listen to our prayers in behalf of your holy mother's tears. O Jesus, look down upon tears of her who loved you best on earth & most deeply loves you now in heaven," was answer.

Our Lord answered her:
"Later my mother will give the treasure of her tears to my beloved institute as a magnet of mercy."

The Image

Our Lady spoke to Sister Amalia:

"Do you know why I wear a blue mantle ? to remind you of heaven, when you're feeling weary from your labors, & carrying the cross of your tribulations.  My mantle reminds you of heaven, to give you indescribable joy & eternal happiness, & this will give courage to your soul & peace to your heart, to continue struggle until end!"

"Do you understand significance of my purple-violet tunic ? I'll tell you that you should remember, as you stand before image of Tears.  Of colors I wear, purple signifies pain.  The pain Jesus felt when they beat him, barbarically, on his body.  My mother's heart & my soul were also lacerated  by pain, on seeing Jesus.

"My child, I'll explain to you why I wear this white veil , around my breast & covering my head.  White signifies purity, & being the white flower of Holy Trinity, I could appear without this whiteness."
"The sweet smile you see traced on my lips is for immense happiness to be able to give mankind such a precious treasure!"

"I'll explain to you reason I appear with my eyes inclined downward.   Inspired painters have recorded my eyes looking upward to sing the glory of my immaculate conception.

Then why are my eyes inclined downward in this apparition, into which you entrust yourself to my blessed tears?  It signifies my compassion toward humanity, because I've come from heaven to alleviate your suffering.  My eyes will always be directed to your sorrows & afflictions, whenever you ask my Son through the tears I shed.
And as you're near my image, see that I gaze at you with eyes of compassion & tenderness."
"My child, I will tell you about rosary in my hands.  I have named it the Crown (chaplet) of Tears .  When you're near me, seeing this chaplet in my hands, remember that it signifies mercy, love, & pain... this chaplet of my blessed tears signifies that your Mother loves you.  Use all its privileges, resort to it with confidence & love."

During Great Depression came a powerful devotion to Mary’s tears in fighting evil

“Through this rosary devil will be conquered & power of hell will be destroyed.” -Our Lady of Tears as she appeared to Sister Amalia of the Scourged Jesus in Campinas, Brazil on March 8, 1930

The Power of Tears

Our Lady of Tears presents us with an image of Blessed Mother, & an opportunity to transform our own tears into prayer.

It all started on Nov 8, 1929, in Campinas, Brazil. Sister Amalia, of  Institute of Missionaries of the Scourged Jesus, felt pangs of sorrow for a mother in her life.
She had just met with a male relative who was in great distress.
His wife, seriously ill, had been diagnosed by several doctors as incurable.

He came to Sister Amalia, because he didn’t know where else to turn, he didn’t know what to do, & he didn’t know what God expected of him.
His children would be left motherless, & he couldn’t bear thought of being without his wife.

Sister Amalia, pained at her relative’s grief & the thought of the sorrow facing him & his children, turned immediately to Jesus.
She felt called to go to chapel.
She knelt in front of altar with her arms held out toward tabernacle & spoke, offering her own life in exchange for life of the mother.

Jesus heard Sister Amalia’s heartfelt pleas, & He answered them: “If you want to receive these favors, ask me for sake of My Mother’s tears.”
Jesus continued by explaining specific prayers Sister Amalia was to use.

Four months later, on March 8, Sister Amalia was back in chapel praying.
She felt herself lifted up as a beautiful woman approached her.
She described woman wearing a violet robe & a blue mantle, with a white veil over her shoulders.
This woman approached Sister Amalia, holding a “corona” (i.e. circle, meaning a rosary) with shining white beads.
She told Sister Amalia that this was “the rosary of my tears.”

It was a rosary of 49 small white pearls, divided by 7 large white pearls into 7 groups of 7 each.

Mary instructed Sister Amalia to pray on each of large beads: “O Jesus, look upon tears of one who loved You most on earth, & who loves You most ardently in heaven.”

On smaller beads, while meditating on one of 7 sorrows of Mary, she gave this prayer: “O Jesus, listen to our prayers, for sake of tears of Your most holy Mother.”

The sorrows used for meditation are also known as 7 sorrows of Mary:
  • prophecy of Simeon;
  • flight into Egypt;
  • loss of Child Jesus in Temple;
  • meeting of Mary & Jesus as he carried His Cross;
  • Crucifixion; striking of Jesus with lance;
  • Mary receiving body of Jesus in her arms; &
  • Body of Jesus being placed in tomb.
Each of these sorrows must have moved Mary to tears in some way.
Simeon predicted that a sword would pierce her heart–pain of worst kind, I imagine, watching your child die.
Fleeing to Egypt, away from the comfort & stability of home, she was secure in her trust in God, but surely had to be scared.

And then, 3 days without Jesus–what could have happened to Him?
Where could he be?
What did His reply, “about my Father’s work,” mean, exactly?

Then we see the 2 of them, mother and Son, face-to-face as He shouldered the Cross.
She must have known where this would lead, & though she must also have had some knowledge, if only deep in her heart, of salvation ahead, it must still have been painful, agonizing, harrowing.

Still, she continued to foot of Cross, where her Son died during Crucifixion.
But before she could hold Him one last time, He was struck with a lance, His body marred even more.

The sorrows conclude with Mary seeing her Son placed in tomb.
How many memories must have visited her of Him in her warm arms, of Him playing, of Him growing?
How many tears must have flowed while she saw His earthly body for last time?
How much hope did she retain?

A mother’s tears are powerful. We can look to Saint Monica, whose tears & prayers won her attention of God & conversion of one of greatest of Church Fathers, Saint Augustine of Hippo.

Tears don’t come just from experiences of motherhood.
Before I was a mother, I was at Mass, serving as a lector, when I found myself quite suddenly choked up & unable to continue.
That wasn’t last time I would have the experience of being moved beyond words, into tears, by Word of God.

I can only imagine how Mary, knowing Word of God–Jesus–so intimately, must have been moved to tears as well.

Those tears members of our family have in our eyes when we talk about  unlikely recent deaths of family members, though reminiscent of pain, cleanse us.
They free us from bounds of this earth & remind us when we'll finally have a chance to hold them, cuddle them, know them.

Death inspires crying, sobbing, heartache. But so does much of life.
 There is suffering & pain, injustice & poverty, frustration & challenge.
Our relief can come from the hope & cleansing of our baptismal waters & from knowledge that we don't walk alone through this valley of tears.

Our Lady of Tears reminds us that, though Mary was without sin, she wasn't without feeling.
She points us to the rainbow of hope that follows the flood of our tears.
She is the window to her Son, just as the eyes that cry are windows to the soul.

How to Pray Rosary of Our Lady of Tears

The rosary transmitted to Sister Amalia by Mother of God consists of 49 white beads, which is divided into 7 parts by 7 larger beads of same color–similar to rosary of 7 sorrows of Mary.
At end, there are attached 3 more small beads & a medal of our dear Lady of Tears.

Through these instructions we're obviously directed to honor Mary our Mother on account of her sorrows, for which she shed many tears.
The medal of Our Lady of Tears is an essential part of rosary, but it must be way it was revealed to Sister Amalia by Mother of God on April 30, 1930.
In Germany, this medal is made with specified inscription in all European languages.
